Since 1983 Americans have observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday as a day to celebrate the intrinsic value of all human life. This important day also provides an opportunity for CareNet to share about the work we do each day to bring life-affirming resources to our community and to empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children.
In 2012, SOHLS will take place the week of January 15, 2012 through January 22, 2012. In honor of this important day, Care Net would like to help you commemorate by speaking in your church.

More than 47 million abortions have been performed in the United States since 1973, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Currently, around 1 million abortions take place in the U.S. each year.
The U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973 through two court decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. These rulings radically altered abortion law by striking down all then, existing state laws prohibiting abortion. The combined effect of the rulings required abortion to be: legal for any woman, regardless of her age; legal for any reason through the first six months of pregnancy, and for virtually any reason thereafter.
Pro-life organizations, such as CareNet Pregnancy Medical Center and Focus on the Family, work toward a day when the Supreme Court will reconsider and reverse these tragic decisions. It is important to note that reversal of the Roe and Doe rulings would not automatically make abortion illegal; rather, a reversal would return the issue of abortion to state jurisdictions.
We continue to hope that a change will happen for a number of reasons, including the fact that even legal scholars who support abortion admit the rulings went too far, based on questionable legal arguments. Looking ahead, the replacement of one or more of the current liberal Supreme Court justices with conservative justices who view Roe and Doe as constitutionally illegitimate and requiring reversal, could eliminate this court-created, right, to abortion
